Updated

The takeaway
- A French pharmacy thermal spring water-based moisturizer topped Amazon's August sales ranking by an impressive margin, per Spate estimates.
- CeraVe holds three of the top 10 spots; K-beauty brands Anua, Medicube (twice) and Centellian24 claim four more.
- No. 9 Simply Vital, a low-recognition brand, out-earned competitors with far bigger followings.
A French pharmacy staple outsold every other face moisturizer on Amazon in August by an impressive margin, according to sales estimates from market research firm Spate.
The data, covering estimated August sales, points to one clear trend: dermatologist-loved, drugstore-priced products dominate the ranking. K-beauty formulas hold their own alongside them.
NewBeauty published the top 10, ranked from lowest to highest estimated sales. Here is what moved.
The brands that won August
The list's biggest surprise sits at No. 9. Simply Vital lacks the name recognition of the legacy pharmacy staples and K-beauty brands surrounding it, yet it still out-earned competitors with far bigger followings, NewBeauty reports.
CeraVe claims three of the ten spots. Its flagship face-and-body formula, built on three essential ceramides, carries the National Eczema Association Seal of Acceptance. The brand's second entry is the lighter-weight lotion counterpart, aimed at shoppers who want ceramide-powered barrier support in a less rich texture. The third CeraVe product, an oil-free nighttime lotion, targets consumers who want overnight barrier support without a heavy formula.
Korean brands take four positions. Anua, described by NewBeauty as one of the biggest K-beauty breakout brands of the past two years, lands at No. 2 with a cream powered by PDRN and hyaluronic acid. The formula absorbs fast, leaves a silky, nonsticky finish and layers under makeup without pilling.
Medicube appears twice. Its moisturizing cream pairs visible capsules with a transparent, panthenol-infused gel that blend into a dewy, plumped-up finish. The brand's second entry, a bouncy jelly-textured cream, combines 10 types of hyaluronic acid with ceramides and niacinamide.
Centellian24, another Korean label, builds its anti-aging moisturizer around centella asiatica, an extract known for soothing redness. NewBeauty links its strong sales to rising consumer interest in sensitive-skin-friendly formulas.
The fragrance-free pick at No. 8 excludes dyes, lanolin, parabens and formaldehyde releasers. Allergists and dermatologists recommend it for reactive skin, and its appeal comes down to straightforward hydration without common irritants.
The No. 1 product, a thermal spring water-based moisturizer from a French pharmacy brand, has long served as a go-to recommendation from beauty editors and dermatologists for shoppers seeking a lightweight, barrier-friendly formula without the fuss.
What the ranking signals
The Spate figures show shoppers reward clinical credibility and accessible pricing over prestige packaging. With K-beauty brands holding four of ten positions and CeraVe alone taking three, established derm-endorsed labels and fast-rising Korean entrants are squeezing out mid-tier competitors on the platform — a pattern likely to intensify as sensitive-skin demand grows.
