Dior Declares Silver the Eyeliner Shade of the Season

Peter Philips glued hair-thin silver liner above models' lash roots at Dior's Spring/Summer 2027 show in Paris. The flash of metal anchored an otherwise lived-in, surfer-inspired beauty look.

The takeaway

  • Peter Philips glued hair-thin silver metallic liner above the lash roots at Dior's Spring/Summer 2027 show at the Tuileries Garden in Paris.
  • Philips used Dior Backstage Rosy Glow Stick in 012 Rosewood and 103 Toffee as 'active blush', placed low on the face, plus Lip Maximizer in 001 Pink and Glassy Glow Stick in 017 Glossy Jelly.
  • Silver follows earlier metallic accents from Philips: metallic green lids at F/W 2026 couture and crystals at the Cruise 2027 show in Los Angeles.

Silver eyeliner, applied in strips thin enough to vanish until a model blinks, anchored the beauty direction at Dior's Spring/Summer 2027 show at the Tuileries Garden in Paris.

Peter Philips, creative and image director of Christian Dior makeup, built each look in the show around a version of liner. Some models wore delicate strips of silver glued along the eyelids. Others carried chunks of silver glitter at the outer corners, forming a winged effect.

"For each makeup look, there was a take on eyeliner," Philips told Harper's Bazaar backstage at the show. "With the full eyeliner that's as thin as hair almost, like a silver metallic, I glued it right above the root of their lashes. From the front, it seems as if there's nothing there, but as soon as they blink you can see the silver, almost like a flashlight."

A recurring metallic theme

The Paris show extends a pattern. At Dior's Fall/Winter 2026 couture presentation, Philips paired metallic green lids with Jonathan Anderson's collection. At the Cruise 2027 show in Los Angeles, he placed crystals on alternating models, which sparkled under the stage's cinematic lighting.

For Spring/Summer 2027, the metallic statement eye sat against deliberately quiet base makeup. Philips used glowy, natural-looking foundation and what he described as "active blush" — placing the Dior Backstage Rosy Glow Stick in shades 012 Rosewood and 103 Toffee lower on the face rather than on the apples of the cheeks, to mimic a flush after a workout.

Lashes stayed natural — "ghost lashes" — and eyebrows received light pencil only where needed. Every model wore Dior's Lip Maximizer in shade 001 Pink, a few swipes of the sheer Dior Backstage Glassy Glow Stick in 017 Glossy Jelly, and Dior Backstage Air Flash Mist to set the makeup.

Effortless by design

The brief behind the looks was minimal from the start. "The first brief we got was not too much, very surfer-inspired and lived in. Very much about texture and natural beauty," Philips said.

Hair followed the same logic. Celebrity stylist Guido Palau led the show's styling, mixing loose waves and natural coils with sleek low-hanging chignons.

Philps framed the collection's beauty message as one for a customer with limited patience for long routines. "They speak to young girls who surf, or rave, or party, and who love makeup and beauty, but maybe don't want to go through a full routine," he said. "It's effortless, not pretentious, and just having fun with your appearance."

The message for the season: a single metallic accent — silver, applied close to the lash root — can carry an entire look, with the rest of the face left understated. Expect the silver eye, in glitter or foil-thin liner form, to migrate from the Tuileries runway to counter displays as the Spring/Summer 2027 cycle unfolds.
