The takeaway

  • Peter Philips created two metallic eye looks for Dior's spring/summer 2027 show in Paris: silver glitter wings and tinsel-like metal strips on the upper lash line.
  • Products used included Dior Forever Skin Glow Foundation, Backstage Rosy Glow Blush Stick in Rosewood and Berry, and Dior Addict Lip Maximizer.
  • Guido Palau styled tousled waves or wet slick-backs; nails were red, maroon, or silver-tipped French manicures.

Models at Dior's spring/summer 2027 runway show in Paris today wore silver glitter wings at the outer edges of their eyes, blinking out flashes of metal where conventional eyeliner would sit.

Peter Philips, creative and image director for Christian Dior makeup, built the look around what he calls "dynamic youth." His brief was precise: "a surfer girl that goes to a rave party. She still has the blush of excitement from the waves, the surf texture [in her hair], and then she takes some glitter and glues it on her face to go raving," he said backstage.

Two steely eye looks

Philips sent models down the runway in one of two eye designs. The first placed a wing of silver glitter at the edges of the eyes and slightly underneath. The second glued a thin, tinsel-like strip of metal onto the upper lash line.

"It almost looks like there's nothing, but once they blink, you can see a flash," Philips said. The looks extend the crystal winged eyeliner he created for Dior's cruise show in May, tightening the idea into something that reads as almost bare skin until the light catches it.

Minimal base, signature flush

Because the eyes carried the look, Philips kept everything else restrained. He built a natural, slightly glowy base with the Dior Forever Skin Glow Foundation.

Then came his signature "workout blush" — color placed low on the cheeks rather than high on the apples, a technique Philips has made a Dior staple. He blended the Backstage Rosy Glow Blush Stick in Rosewood on lighter skin tones and Berry on deeper tones, working it into the hollows of the cheeks for what he called an "active" flush.

Lashes stayed natural, which sharpened the effect of the pewter liner. Lips got a thin layer of the Dior Addict Lip Maximizer.

Hair and nails finish the story

Hairstylist Guido Palau matched the makeup's surf-and-rave duality. Models wore either tousled waves or wet-looking slick-backs.

Nails ran in three directions — red, maroon, or silver-tipped French manicures — each version echoing the metallic eye makeup.

The beauty look tracked the clothes: platinum and gold cigarette jeans, long beaded earrings hanging from a single earlobe, silver glinting off the eyelids. The message, under Jonathan Anderson's creative direction, is that Dior girls surf in the morning and go straight to a rave, wearing silver jeans while carrying a bag with gold hardware.

Philips summed up the attitude in one line: "Effortless, not pretentious, having fun with your appearance, and the next day you do something totally different." That last clause may be the most telling signal for the season — a beauty direction designed to be worn once and swapped out, not a fixed signature.
