Counter notes
- Teddi Mellencamp, 45, had an upper blepharoplasty on October 13 performed by Dr. Sarmela Sunder in Beverly Hills.
- She was awake under local anesthesia and was in and out in about two hours.
- Mellencamp has undergone 17 surgeries since a stage 2 melanoma diagnosis in 2022; the cancer is now stage 4.
- She receives immunotherapy the day after the procedure and stitch removal on Thursday.
- Kaitlyn Bristowe previously documented her own upper blepharoplasty recovery.

Teddi Mellencamp, 45, squeezed an upper blepharoplasty into a week that also includes immunotherapy — and declared herself "obsessed" with the results. The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills alum, who has stage 4 melanoma, went public with the procedure on Tuesday, October 13, through her surgeon's Instagram account.
Beverly Hills facial plastic surgeon Sarmela Sunder, MD, posted behind-the-scenes footage of the surgery. The clips showed Mellencamp awake under local anesthesia as excess skin was removed from her upper lids. Dr. Sunder said the heaviness had bothered Mellencamp for a couple of years. Her eye makeup kept transferring onto the upper part of her lid.
What did Mellencamp say about it?
Mellencamp said her phone was "blowing up" with questions after the posts, so she answered the main ones on her Instagram Stories. "Of course, it was fine with my cancer doctors, that's why I agreed to do it," she explained. "I was awake. I get my stitches out Thursday. I have immunotherapy Wednesday."
Before the appointment, she acknowledged fans who insisted she did not need the surgery. She said she wanted it anyway. Afterward, she called the experience "easy peasy," said she was in and out in about two hours, and said she was "obsessed" with the results so far.
How does the procedure fit into her cancer timeline?
Mellencamp received her first diagnosis, stage 2 melanoma, in 2022. Since then she has undergone 17 surgeries plus radiation and immunotherapy, after the cancer spread to her brain and lungs in 2025. The blepharoplasty stands out because she chose it, unlike the years of medically necessary procedures that came before.
The timeline for the cosmetic procedure follows a standard pattern. Upper blepharoplasty is often performed under local anesthesia, and stitches typically come out about a week later. Mellencamp's Thursday stitch removal falls within that window.
Who else has documented the procedure?
Eyelid surgery ranks among the most popular cosmetic procedures. Mellencamp is not the first celebrity to share the experience: Kaitlyn Bristowe documented her own upper blepharoplasty recovery on social media, including a setback during healing.
Mellencamp told followers to stay tuned for her final results. She also plans to answer more questions about the procedure on her podcast, which will add a patient-side account to a procedure that Dr. Sunder's posts showed from the surgical side.
