Celebrity hairstylist Andrew Fitzsimons officially wound down his eponymous hair care brand, Andrew Fitzsimons Hair, in February of this year, a spokesperson for the brand confirmed to WWD.

The closure went largely unnoticed until now. The @andrewfitzsimonshair Instagram account posted for the last time in October 2025. Fitzsimons himself declined to comment on the shutdown.

How the brand started — and who owned it

Andrew Fitzsimons Hair debuted in 2022 in partnership with Maesa, the incubator that also produces Ashley Tisdale's Being Frenshe and Kristin Ess Hair. Fitzsimons bought the brand outright from Maesa in 2024.

After the buyout, he set up a headquarters in Ireland, his home country, and appointed Caroline Dalton chief executive officer. Julian Fallon, who cofounded the brand, stayed on after the departure from Maesa.

The range launched with 27 products, every one priced under $20. Distribution spanned three markets:

  • Boots in the U.K. and Ireland
  • Ulta Beauty in the U.S.
  • Müller in Germany

Formulated for different hair types, the line included the Prism Shine and Virgin Repair shampoos and conditioners, plus a Fantasy Curls assortment of creams, shampoos and masks, among other products.

Fitzsimons was explicit about the brand's purpose from the start. "It was important for me to be able to show the beauty of each hair type in my brand," he said of the launch in 2022.

Why does this closure matter?

Andrew Fitzsimons Hair joins a long list of beauty brands that have shut down this year alone:

  • The Outset, Scarlett Johansson's skin care line — September
  • Gxve Beauty, Gwen Stefani's brand — February
  • CoverFX — January
  • Mally Beauty — January
  • Good light Cosmetics, founded by David Yi — April
  • Adwoa Beauty — May

That tally makes 2025 one of the most brutal years on record for beauty shutdowns, spanning celebrity-backed ventures, indie labels and established names alike.

The Fitzsimons case follows a now-familiar arc in the category: incubator launch, founder buyout, restructuring, quiet exit. Fitzsimons, whose celebrity clients have made him one of the most visible stylists in the industry, bought the brand back from Maesa in 2024 with an Irish headquarters and a new CEO in place — only to wind it down roughly a year later.

With The Outset, Gxve Beauty, CoverFX, Mally Beauty, Good light and Adwoa Beauty all gone since January, the pressure is now on remaining founder-led hair and skin care labels to prove that celebrity names and sub-$20 pricing can survive a shrinking beauty market.
