Eva Longoria wore a gemstone Calavera face at the sixth annual Día de Muertos Gala on Tuesday night in Los Angeles. The event, hosted by Carlos Eric Lopez on the Universal Studios backlot, celebrates the spirit of Día de Muertos while honoring creatives in underserved communities.

Her look was restrained by sugar skull standards. She skipped full-face paint entirely. Instead, black oval gemstones formed the shape of the letter M, with the tips reaching her hairline before descending to follow the initial curve of her cheekbones, according to WWD's report on the event.

Who built the look?

Luca Ala, a celebrity hairstylist based in Los Angeles and Mexico City, styled Longoria's hair. Elan Bongiorno, a frequent collaborator whose clientele includes Jane Fonda and Heather Locklear, designed the glam. Bongiorno did Longoria's makeup for previous high-scale events such as the Academy Museum Gala. WWD has reached out to both artists for comment. No response appears in the original report, so their product choices remain unknown.

The rest of the makeup stayed conventional: a glossy red lip, pink blush and shimmery gold eye shadow. Bongiorno released no breakdown of specific products used, and the report names no brands beyond Longoria's ambassador role.

What did she wear?

With her hair pushed back under the headpiece arrangement, Longoria's face carried the look. The "Flamin' Hot" director wore a long-sleeved, full-length sequined black gown that continued the shiny black theme. A chunky silver bracelet, hoop earrings and a ring finished the styling. Flowing chocolate brown tresses and a black and red floral crown framed the gemstone detail.

Is this a departure for her?

Not really. Longoria, 51, has turned to simple accentuating glam consistently this year. A longtime global brand ambassador and spokesperson for L'Oréal Paris, she attended the 2026 Global Gift Gala Madrid in September wearing loose waves, plenty of blush and a glossy pink lip. In May, she appeared at the 2026 Cannes Film Festival with a similar bronzed and blushing look, paired with a high ponytail. The gala makeup extends that minimalism; only the gemstones break the pattern.

Who else attended?

Honoree Rita Moreno attended, as did Ava DuVernay, Taylor Zakhar Perez, content creator Desi Perkins and "Marvel" star Xochitl Gomez. Glowy skin and bronze glam dominated the night, with DuVernay, Perkins and Gomez all following the same direction.

The gala's sixth year marks a growing institutional footprint for Día de Muertos celebrations on the studio lot. Expect more celebrities to test embellished Calavera looks on red carpets as the holiday's profile in Hollywood beauty coverage keeps rising.
