Kim Kardashian wore black liner broken by a frosty gap at the center of her lower lash line at the New York premiere of All's Fair season two — and that one detail is the newest version of the halo eye.
The halo eye (a makeup technique where light shadow at the lid's center is ringed by darker shades) dominated Instagram roughly a decade ago. The look never disappeared. It evolved into halo eyeliner, and makeup artist Ariel Tejada just gave it its most streamlined form yet on Kardashian.
Instead of drawing one continuous dark line across the lower lash line, Tejada concentrated black liner at the inner and outer corners. He left a noticeably lighter, frosty sliver in the center, directly beneath the pupil. That break in the darkness creates the smoked-out halo effect — but only on the bottom.
The upper lash line received a different treatment. It got a more defined sweep of black rather than a continuation of the smoky halo. Tejada built depth with cool taupe shadow on the lid and warm brown in the crease. Full, fluttery lashes finished the eye.
What does this change for anyone copying the look?
It makes the halo eye dramatically easier to wear. The classic version demands symmetrical blending across the entire lid. The semi-halo version needs only two dark liner placements and one light center on the lower lash line. The frosty sliver does the work the full halo used to require.
The rest of the makeup kept the focus on the eyes. Kardashian's complexion was smoothly sculpted, with high-set light pink blush and a touch of highlighter on the nose. Her lips were topped in soft pale pink, outlined with a cool beige liner to subtly contour their shape.
The hair and the dress
Kardashian revealed a new lob (a long bob haircut) only days before the premiere. For this event, hairstylist Iggy Rosales pulled her hair back into a sleek, super-long ponytail with a precise middle part. Two loose tendrils framed her face. The flowing pieces echoed the dangling ribbon elements of her gown.
The gown itself was a pale-gray Ashi Studio dress styled by Law Roach. It featured a sculptural corset, lace panels, a dramatic train, and crocodile-embossed leather details, including a coordinating leather neckpiece.
Still, the smallest detail made the biggest impression: that tiny, strategic blip of shimmer in the lower eyeliner. Expect the semi-halo to surface on red carpets and in tutorials as the season's easiest shimmer placement — no full-lid blending required.
