Stevie Nicks arrived at the New York City Ballet's annual Fall Fashion Gala on Thursday wearing a flower crown over her natural curls — a full study in bohemian beauty at Lincoln Center.

The former Fleetwood Mac frontwoman was photographed embracing board member and fundraising chair Sarah Jessica Parker outside the landmark building. Nicks wore the crown; Parker wore a Rapunzel braid. Both smiled for the cameras.

Nicks' accessory harkened back to the hippie beauty trends of the 1960s and the festival fashion fad that followed in the 2010s. The delicate piece paired with her Renaissance gown, accenting its pink and mauve hues and sparkle stitching. Underneath, her natural curls ran wild, cascading down her back and shoulders. Her fluttering sleeves matched the uninterrupted movement of her hair.

The look lands at a moment when bohemian hair and makeup are reportedly taking a backseat in bridal beauty. Stylists predict a new wave of wedding looks this season, and Nicks' unbothered styling cuts against that current.

"After several seasons of effortless, bridal hair is becoming more polished and beautifully finished again," Kimberly Michelle, founder of Mint Well Salon and Head Spa, previously told WWD. "This isn't a return to stiff or overly sprayed hair. The new direction is refined but touchable, with thoughtful shape, movement and structure."

Michelle says bridal beauty is now about longevity — styles that are wearable and timeless. In pursuit of this, brides are breaking up with barely-there styling.

Parker's braid from Thursday may be the better template for striking that balance between low-effort and overdone. Clad in a sheer baby doll design by Simone Rocha, the "Sex and the City" lead wore an extra-long, twisted ponytail that finished well past her hips. Serge Normant styled the hairdo; Gina Gilbert colored it. The braid trailed behind her like a multidimensional shadow, blending gray, blond and brunette tones.

Julia Fox took a harder turn on the red carpet. She sported skinny brows, overly blushed cheeks, black liner and glossed lips.

The gala's hair moments spanned the full spectrum — from Nicks' free-flowing crown to Parker's engineered braid — and they arrive just as stylists declare polished, structured styles the new direction for the season ahead.
