  • Eight Power Mist sanitiser scents launch in the UK at £16 for a 30ml bottle, plus Glow Mist and Gentle Mist special editions and five Power Essence body and hair mists at £20.
  • The formula contains moisturising aloe vera leaf juice and radish root extract alongside alcohol; celebrity fans include Kylie Jenner and Naomi Campbell.

Touchland, the US hand sanitiser brand that Get The Gloss's beauty director describes as an obsession requiring friends to bulk buy it on American trips, launches in Space NK stores and online on 29 September. A waiting list is open now.

The product at the centre of the cult following is the Touchland Power Mist, a 30ml spray priced at £16. That is more than the average hand sanitiser, but the formula differentiates it from the astringent products that left hands raw during the pandemic. Alongside alcohol, which kills bacteria and germs, the mist contains moisturising ingredients including aloe vera leaf juice and radish root extract. The texture is silky rather than sticky, and while the writer stops short of calling it a hand cream replacement, she notes it leaves hands feeling smooth.

The scents do not smell heavily of alcohol, which the writer identifies as the second key selling point alongside the chic bottle design.

Celebrity backing and the American mom effect

Touchland has operated in the US since 2018 and counts Kylie Jenner and Naomi Campbell among its celebrity fans. But the Get The Gloss beauty director credits a different source for her discovery: videos of American mothers packing colour-coordinated coolers and Stanley water bottles for beach days and football games, with a matching Touchland clipped on as the finishing touch. Clip-on cases are available, and the writer keeps one on her dog-walking bag.

Collaborations have grown with the brand's rise. Current partnerships include Disney, Peanuts from Snoopy, and Crocs — the latter's case features holes like the shoes themselves, allowing users to attach charms.

The UK line-up

The UK will not receive the full Power Mist range. Eight sanitiser scents will launch: Wild Watermelon, Berry Bliss, Beach Coco, Pure Lavender, Blue Sandalwood, Mango Passion, Rainwater, and Vanilla Blossom — all £16 for 30ml. The writer recommends Rainwater, which she says smells like rainwater on grass.

Two special editions join the core range. The Glow Mist Revitalising Hand Sanitiser, £16, comes in a dusky rose bottle, contains collagen, and carries a rosewater-meets-oud scent the writer calls "expensive-smelling" — she reports people asking what perfume she is wearing when she sprays it. It is her favourite of the line. The Gentle Mist Ultra-Soothing Hand Sanitiser, £16, arrives in a pastel green bottle aimed at people with ultra-sensitive skin who normally cannot tolerate hand sanitiser at all; it adds niacinamide and centella asiatica to calm as it cleanses.

Beyond sanitiser, the launch includes five scents of the Touchland Power Essence Hydrating Body and Hair Fragrance Mist at £20. The taller bottles mirror the sanitiser design, and the writer argues the considered scent library makes the extension natural — few hand sanitiser brands, she notes, could pull off the same move.

From 29 September, the writer's transatlantic bulk-buying requests end. Until then, she is on the Space NK waitlist.
