Alleyoop has condensed eyeliner, lip liner, highlighter and brow pencil into one retractable pen. The product is the Pen Pal 4-in-1 Touch-Up Pen, and it works like the multi-color gel pens of the 1990s: click, and a different tip appears.

What Comes in the Pen?

The Pen Pal comes in three variations. All three share a black eyeliner and a champagne highlighter. They differ in the brow and lip components:

  • In a Rouge, for light skin tones: taupe brow pencil, nude pink lip liner.
  • Make a Mauve, for medium skin tones: dark brown brow pencil, mauve lip liner.
  • Berry Busy, a deeper option: dark brown brow pencil, berry lip liner.

The pen needs no sharpener. When a tip wears down, a quick twist reveals more product.

What Did Testers Say?

The ELLE team tested the pen and published individual reviews. Their verdicts ran from enthusiastic to qualified.

Beauty Editor Katie Berohn praised the format: "I can't believe how much I like this pen. It's so easy to click through the different options. Each tip is small and sharp, so you're able to draw precise lines, and the formulas are creamy, glide easily, and last all day." She said she wants one in her travel case, gym bag and purse.

Associate Beauty Commerce Writer Emma Aerin Becker admitted her expectations were low. "What I expected to be a bit gimmicky turned out to be a super convenient and well-formulated makeup product," she said. She tested three of the four components. The mauve lip liner glided smoothly and lasted through the day. The champagne highlighter's small tip allowed precise placement on the nose, inner eye corners and brow bones. The black eyeliner drew a mixed note: "It wasn't super pigmented, but it definitely helped to lift and elongate my eye shape."

Where Does It Fall Short?

Commerce Writer Laura Tarafa, testing Make a Mauve, called the eyeliner easy to blend for a smoky look. But precise winged liner required help. She wrote that she could "still achieve a precise flick with the help of a straight-edged piece of card." That is a real caveat for anyone who wears sharp liner daily. The lip liner earned her approval for smooth, even color without dragging or skipping. She plans to replace her pencil assortment with the pen when traveling.

Senior Fashion Commerce Editor Dale Arden Chong framed the pen as a touch-up tool for office-to-event days rather than a full makeup replacement. "I find it incredibly useful for someone who needs to do a touch-up every now and then before a work event after a day at the office," she said.

Associate Fashion Commerce Editor Meg Donohue liked it as an option for undecided days. She may buy a second pen to keep at her desk.

What Is the So-What?

Every reviewer framed the Pen Pal as a bag staple, not a vanity replacement. The consensus: strong formulas in the lip and brow components, slightly weak pigmentation in the eyeliner, and a format that wins on portability. For commuters and travelers who carry four loose pencils, one clickable pen now covers the same jobs.
