Laneige's $24 Lip Sleeping Mask took Best Overall in Allure's 2026 ranking of the best lip masks, adding a 2025 Readers' Choice Award to a record that already includes multiple Best of Beauty wins. The Amorepacific-owned brand's formula sits between a balm and a cream, built on shea butter, murumuru seed butter, coconut oil and vitamin C, and ships in 10 shades from Sweet Candy to Peach Iced Tea.
Allure tested each product across five categories—ingredients and efficacy, packaging, fragrance, texture, and wear—with in-house editors, contributors and dermatologists vetting the results. The six winners range in price from $15 to $75 and target distinct needs: overnight repair, plumping, fine lines, and sensitive skin.
Commerce editor Sarah Han, a repeat Laneige user, called the formula "juicy—like a soothing blanket for my lips" and noted its versatility. "I usually wear it overnight but I've been known to slather them on for 10 to 15 minutes before going out to prep my lips in a pinch," she said. "Despite the petite-looking tub, this stuff lasts for a long time, and a little goes a long way."
Gisou took Best Scent with the $26 Honey Glaze Collagen Therapy Lip Mask, a Best of Beauty winner that pairs honey from the brand's family bee garden with ceramides, hyaluronic acid, jojoba and meadowfoam seed oils. Commerce editor Madison San Miguel reported going "a full four to five hours without reapplying" and praised its gloss-like shine. The mask now also comes in a cherry chocolate scent alongside the original honey-vanilla.
Tatcha's $29 Kissu Overnight Lip Mask won Best Overnight. Its jelly formula centers on triisostearin—a combination of glycerin and fatty acids that works as both humectant and emollient—plus allantoin, camellia oil, squalane, peach extract and vitamin E. The jar includes a gold spoon applicator that stores on the lid. Managing editor Alessandra Foresto said the mask "works fast, leaving my lips flake-free almost as instantly as the jelly-like product touches my lips," and doubles as a softening primer under gloss.
At $15, Abib's PDRN Vegan Collagen Lip Mask Glazed Jelly is the list's cheapest pick and its Best Plumping entry. Plant-derived PDRN, vegan collagen and three forms of hyaluronic acid give the sheer glaze its cushiony effect. Contributing commerce writer Christa Joanna Lee flagged some tackiness—"If you have long hair, tie it back and you're golden"—but said a light coat "doubles beautifully as a glossy daytime lip treatment."
Blue Lagoon Skincare's $75 BL+ Complex Lip Renewal Mask, Best for Lip Lines, targets fine lines without retinol. Its BL Complex blends microalgae and silica to support collagen production, backed by 0.5% bakuchiol, ceramides, squalane, castor seed oil and mineral-rich Blue Lagoon seawater. Senior commerce director Shanna Shipin, a side sleeper, said a nearly weightless single swipe fully coats her lips. "If it didn't consistently heal my chapped lips and keep them hydrated, I'd complain about the price—but this stuff works," she said.
For fragrance-sensitive users, PCA Skin's $50 Overnight Lip Mask won Best Fragrance-Free. The unscented formula combines squalane, shea butter, vitamin E and coconut oil, and a single jar lasts months with nightly use. "The combo of squalane, vitamin E, and shea butter puts all my daytime lip balms to shame," said contributing commerce editor Deanna Pai.
The dermatologists Allure consulted drew a clear line between product formats. "Lips don't have oil glands, so they dry out easily," said Anna Karp, MD, a board-certified dermatologist in New York City, citing cold weather, wind, sun, dehydration, isotretinoin and irritants in toothpaste as common triggers. Hallie McDonald, MD, board-certified dermatologist and co-founder of ERLY, framed the category split: "Think of balms as your daytime moisturizer and lip masks as your nighttime recovery cream."
Allure also recommends an occasional gentle lip scrub before masking to remove dead skin—but only when lips aren't visibly chapped, in which case hydration and barrier repair take priority.
With prices clustering between $15 and $29 for four of the six winners, the overnight lip mask category remains accessible at entry level, while Blue Lagoon's $75 bakuchiol formula signals where the segment is heading: anti-aging actives migrating from facial skincare into lip care.
