Rosalía has one rule for Calvin Klein's new Euphoria Elixir: she wears it at night, ideally during a full moon. The Spanish singer, who fronts the fragrance as its ambassador, told Bazaar why the scent earned a permanent slot in her rotation.

"I don't like scents that disappear soon, especially in the nighttime. But this one stays with you," she says. "The formula has long-lasting powers."

The timing is deliberate. Calvin Klein positions the Elixir as the newest pillar of its Euphoria franchise, and Rosalía arrives as its image after a six-month Lux tour built around her opera-inspired album, plus an acting debut in the HBO series Euphoria earlier this year.

"I really feel honored to be an ambassador of it and be an image of it, because hopefully these perfumes will create a lot of memories for a lot of people now and in the future," she adds.

The stage outfit that changes her energy

Asked what makes her feel euphoric, Rosalía points to her stage wardrobe. "When I choose an outfit to go on stage, it's the one that actually changes my energy and puts me in the focus and feeling I need to channel on stage."

Her favorite from the Lux tour comes from the show's fourth act: a structured skirt with large cross-shaped headpieces. "I feel refreshed in that moment of the show because it's a complete change, yet it's very connected with the rest of the acts. Sometimes we did it in green on the upper part or in pink for Mexico," she explains.

Performing every night across different countries for six months has taken its toll. Post-tour, her priority is simple: "I really want to go back home and see my family. That's my priority number one." She adds, "I want to finish it in the best way possible, and then we'll see."

Fragrance as inheritance

Rosalía traces her attachment to perfume to her mother, who collected fragrances and displayed them in a glass cabinet in her bathroom, alongside soaps bought in France in sculptural bottles.

"I was not tall enough to reach them, but I would smell them through my mom, so that was how I could get close to them and understand those smells through her wearing them," she recalls.

A more recent olfactory memory: meeting Carmina, the newborn daughter of Barcelona photographer Carlota Guerrero, who has worked extensively with Solange. "She was so delicate, and she smelled so pure. It was the most beautiful smell of a newborn. I was very impressed with it," Rosalía says.

Calm before the show

Her pre-performance ritual runs counter to the euphoria she delivers on stage. "Before going on stage, I need the opposite. That's why I go for candles; I meditate, I move," she says. "For meditation, I usually just look at the candle. Then, praying and letting go."

The sensory design extends to the audience. "While I perform, there's also this smoke dispenser that moves from side to side, and there's a palo santo smell in it for the audience to also experience," she notes.

How she applies it

Rosalía adapts her fragrance application to her outfit. "It depends on how I'm dressed. It always changes. I put it wherever the skin is exposed," she says. Her target zones are unusual: "I don't go so much for the neck, but a lot of times, I go for the back of the neck and the forearm."

Acting, Almodóvar and what's next

Her debut in Euphoria taught her restraint. "They are very experienced; they go in and out of scenes so easily, gracefully, and with so much ease. You can tell that they don't give more effort than what's needed. I think that there's such beauty in that art, and I want to learn that and master it," she says of her co-stars.

She calls acting "a different discipline" but remains committed. Her film canon is distinctly Spanish: "I love Volver. I really like any of [Pedro] Almodóvar's movies. I always go back to those throughout the years. I also really like Jamón Jamón. I like Penélope Cruz when she was young."

As for what her next era looks like after Calvin Klein's new fragrance chapter: "Next week, when I finish my tour."
