Demi Lovato walked the red carpet at the first-ever Airbnb.org Gala in Los Angeles on Wednesday night wearing a black plunging Schiaparelli suit with satin panels and gold embellishments, capping a week that included a Rare Beauty collaboration announcement and a hospital visit.

Earlier that same day, Lovato confirmed a collaboration with longtime friend and fellow former Disney star Selena Gomez for Gomez's beauty brand, Rare Beauty. The partnership had a nostalgic hook: the campaign, titled "Still Making Each Other Blush," revisits the duo's time starring in Disney Channel's "Princess Protection Program." Lovato and Gomez dressed in the colors of the original movie poster for the shoot.

The gala look stood in stark contrast to that campaign. Where the Rare Beauty imagery leaned soft and blush-driven, Wednesday's glam went dark and bold.

Makeup artist Sandy Ganzer — a favorite of "Euphoria" star Hunter Schafer — created the look. It featured dark arched eyebrows, a smoky eye built on gold eye shadow, warm-toned blush on the cheeks and a glossy peach pink lip. WWD has reached out to Ganzer for comment.

Hairstylist Alyx Liu, a longtime collaborator of Lovato's, styled her dark raven locks in a loose curl pattern that tumbled down her shoulders, adding to the visual drama. WWD has also contacted Liu for comment.

What happened earlier in the week?

Not all of Lovato's news was celebratory. The 34-year-old singer was hospitalized on Monday due to an allergic reaction. She addressed the incident on Instagram on Tuesday, assuring fans and well-wishers that she was doing just fine. By Wednesday, Lovato appeared in good spirits on the carpet at the Milk Studios lot.

What does the Rare Beauty bundle include?

The "Still Making Each Other Blush" campaign promotes an exclusive Soft Pinch Blush Bundle, available on the Rare Beauty website starting Oct. 28 for $50. The bundle contains:

  • Two Soft Pinch blushes — Hope, a nude mauve shade, and Virtue, a beige peach
  • One free Soft Pinch Blush Brush

The pricing positions the two-shade set as a collectible tied to the Lovato-Gomez friendship rather than a standard retail offering, with the free brush anchoring the $50 value proposition.

Who else attended the gala?

Lovato was not the only notable face leaning into dramatic evening glam on the carpet:

  • Charli XCX appeared in similar dark and dramatic makeup
  • Charlize Theron sported a pink lip and blush
  • Cynthia Erivo wore long fluttering eyelashes paired with a cool-toned lip combination

The dark-and-bold direction shared by Lovato and Charli XCX suggests the smoky, gold-flecked eye may carry into the season's red carpet circuit — and Lovato's Rare Beauty campaign, arriving Oct. 28, gives consumers a direct way to buy into the softer counterpoint she unveiled the same day.
