Milan Fashion Week S/S '27 has delivered its verdict on the bob: the cut is alive and well. Despite a revival of long hair, particularly in the United States, the bob and the lob are "not going anywhere anytime soon," according to Marie Claire Beauty Director Hannah Baxter, who documented the week's street style beauty looks.
The evidence runs through more than two dozen named looks spotted on editors and showgoers hopping between Prada, Gucci, Max Mara, and Armani. Cuts spanned the full short-hair spectrum: a "Razor Sharp" bob, a "Lovely Lob," a "Platinum Pixie," "Perfectly Pixie," and "Make It Micro." The pixie alone claimed three separate slots in the rundown, a signal that ultra-short hair is holding its own against the long-hair revival.
Red hair is cementing its place as a fashion-girl favorite, Baxter reports. The week produced "Ferrari Red Lips," "Cherry Cola Chic," and a look dubbed "Cool Girl Cooper" — copper sitting squarely in the warm-red family. Unexpected hues pushed further: green appeared twice, in "Green with Envy" and "Going Green," while pink made what Baxter calls its "stylish presence known." Gray also earned a spot, under the heading "Gorgeous, Gorgeous Gray."
Updos and structured styling countered the wash-and-go minimalism associated with other fashion capitals. The list includes a "Sleek Chignon," a "French Twist," an "Up, Up, Updo," a "Flip Twist Pony," a "Half Braid," and a "Mega Mermaid" look. Accessories played a visible role: "Barrette Bling" and "Ruby Toes" — red nail polish, worn with open shoes — both made the cut. Makeup looks ranged from "Kiss and Make Up" to a glossy "Curl Up and Glow."
Baxter frames Milan as her go-to corrective to a minimalist routine. "Whenever I'm in need of beauty inspiration to knock me out of my minimalist, Brooklyn girly rut, I always look to the Italians," she writes. Her assessment: "MFW S/S '27 is serving up plenty of stunning street style beauty looks."
